VASS Lawyers, in collaboration with Achieve Global and ELSA Bucharest, launches a new session of internship, training and legal opinions competition, under the auspices of VASS Lawyers Academy. The project is open to all students in the IInd, IIIrd or IVth year at a Romanian law faculty, who are interested in developing the necessary skills for a successful career in business law.
The success of previous editions has set a daring goal for the 2013 edition of VASS Lawyers Academy which aims to provide law students with a practical perspective over the legal profession. In fact, students’ feedback determined the new program structure: four sessions of internships for Romanian and foreign students, a training program supported by VASS Lawyers Achieve Global professionals, and a legal opinions competition.
“My participation at the program ‘Training law students for real life’ and the completion of an internship at VASS Lawyers represented a big step in my student life, in my training as a future practitioner and, in equal measure, helped to better understand the implications of this profession. With the support of a great team, besides drafting legal claims or legal opinions in Romanian and English, I learned to adapt to any situation, to work effectively in a team and to reach a level of performance my work”, Belgin Boras, fourth year student at the Faculty of Law, University of Bucharest, about the training program and internships in the autumn of 2012.
“I learned to draft claims for the National Council for Solving Complaints (N.C.S.C.), legal claims or legal opinions, warrants for payment and many other documents, but in the end, I think biggest benefit of all was to learn the “little things”. Among these things I would like to highlight the meticulousness and attention to detail, the “know-how” of information search, a good capacity for drafting documents, e.g.”, Stefan Grigore, third year student at the Faculty of Law, Nicolae Titulescu University, trainee in the internship program July-August 2012.
“I consider myself very lucky to be part of the internship program at VASS Lawyers, I liked very much. It was the most pleasant work environment I’ve ever dreamed of, with exceptional and talented people, a warm and friendly place, a big ‘family’. This is how I imagined the perfect job: competent, with well-trained colleagues and a “stress without stress” working conditions”, Andrea Gal, third year student at the Faculty of Law, University of Bucharest, about the summer internship in 2012.
The first component of the 2013 edition of VASS Lawyers Academy will include internships programs of approximately two months for eight students, in the following periods: March-May, July-August, August-September and October-December. The program will expand internationally, an internship for July-August being dedicated exclusively to a foreign student. The selection of students will be made with the help of ELSA, the foreign internship program being selected using STEP (Student Trainee Exchange Programme). At the end of the internship, depending on the involvement, results and potential of each participant, VASS Lawyers will provide recommendations that acknowledge their performance and the possibility of long-term cooperation.
The training program called “Training Law Students for Real Life” will be held by lawyers within VASS Lawyers and the expert consultants form Achieve Global – Cosmin Joldes, at the law firm headquarters, in April-May. The program is modular, including topics such as “How to draft a legal opinion”, “How to speak in public”, “How to draft a contract”, “How to start a company”, “How to draft a legal claim”. A maximum number of ten students selected by ELSA Bucharest can participate to these trainings, the two internship trainees being de plano participants.
In the third major component of the VASS Lawyers Academy program, the law firm will organize in April-May 2013 a legal opinion competition in English, on a topic regarding public procurement or public-private partnerships.
The conditions and rules for participating in the competition, as well as the selection criteria for the internship and training sessions will be presented on the Carrers section of www.vasslawyers.eu and on the ELSA Bucharest website – http://elsabucuresti.ro/.
