VASS Lawyers, in collaboration with Achieve Global and ELSA Bucharest, launches the third session of internship, training and legal opinions competition, under the auspices of VASS Lawyers Academy. The project is open to all students in the IInd, IIIrd or IVth year at a Romanian law faculty, who are interested in developing the necessary skills for a successful career in business law.
The success of previous editions and the feedback received from the students has the structure for the 2014 edition of VASS Lawyers Academy which aims to provide law students with a practical perspective over the legal profession: four sessions of internships for students, a training program supported by VASS Lawyers and Achieve Global professionals, and a legal opinions competition.
“VASS Lawyers Academy Workshop represented for us the opportunity to learn the “ABC” of any future lawyer or jurist: how to write a legal opinion, draft a legal claim, a contract or what are the formalities involved in setting up a company. However, the best thing was that I learned all this in an informal and friendly atmosphere, based on legal knowledge and also on many examples and stories from real life”, Doriana Matei, third year student at the Faculty of Law, University of Bucharest, trainee in the 2013 training program.
“The internship at VASS Lawyers was for me an opportunity to discover more about the legal profession and also about myself. First of all, I saw what it means to have a daily schedule at the office, to have a customer who needs the answers “yesterday” and to be part of a team. Secondly, I saw what implies working in a small law firm and not in a corporation, in which people are more than colleagues. All in all, the experience at VASS Lawyers, which is indeed an experience, was one that helped me professionally and not only” Marius Stanciu, a third year student at the Faculty of Law, University of Bucharest, trainee in the training program and internship in 2013.
“A wonderful experience and a continuous challenge: this is how I would describe the VASS Lawyers training period. I had the opportunity to meet amazing people who have shared with me their experience and their values of the legal profession. Moreover, I learned new things that will certainly be helpful and the tasks received and the teamwork helped me put into practice the information I’ve already acquired. The training program was very well structured and each area was interesting, everything taking place in a pleasant atmosphere”, Ioana Craciun, fourth year student at the Faculty of Law, University of Bucharest, trainee in the training program in 2013.
The first component of the 2014 VASS Lawyers Academy edition includes internships of about two months for eight students in the periods March – May, July – August, August- September and October-November. At the end of the internship, according/in agreement to their implication, the results and potential of each participant, VASS Lawyers will provide recommendations that authenticate their knowledge, and the possibility of a long-term collaboration.
The training program called “Training Law Students for Real Life” will be held by lawyers within VASS Lawyers and the expert consultant form Achieve Global – Cosmin Joldes, at the law firm headquarters, in April-May. The program is modular, including topics such as “How to draft a legal opinion”, “How to speak in public”, “How to draft a contract”, “How to start a company”, “How to draft a legal claim”, “How ro set up a company”. A maximum number of ten students selected by ELSA Bucharest can participate to these trainings, the two internship trainees being de plano participants.
The deadline for applying to the internships and training program is 23rd of March 2014. More information is available here (internships) and here (training program).
In the third major component of the VASS Lawyers Academy program, the law firm will organize in May 2013 a legal opinion competition in English, on a topic regarding public procurement or public-private partnerships. The participation conditions will be available on our site until the end of April.
The conditions and rules for participating in the competition, as well as the selection criteria for the internship and training sessions will be presented on the Carrers section of www.vasslawyers.eu and on the ELSA Bucharest website – http://elsabucuresti.ro/.
